So, I'd like some opinions on something if anyone has any insight! When I was 19, I started my fitness journey. Until I was 23, I was a runner, did stair climbing competitions, and went to the gym frequently. During this time, I was in college, hardly ever home, poor, and lived off of spinach salads and eggs pretty much since they were quick and cheap. When I was 23, I moved, feel into a depression and started to put on a couple pounds. Shortly after that, I met the man that is now my wonderful husband and he started cooking for me. I went from spinach salads and working out to not working out and over eating on delicious food! I guess I am wondering, is it realistic to want to get back to where I was before? I still have my jeans from back then and of course they dont fit. But I am wondering if it is even realistic to expect my body to look like it did back then. I was highly cardio focused, ate little calories, and I am 26 now so a few years older. I am wondering if I should just not look back, throw those Jean's out, and start new goals for the new person that I am and the new life I have...

you can never go back but you can always build a new you. if you felt best conditioning yourself and eating healthier you can get back to that. It is all about choices. I am over 60 years old, lost all my extra weight and down within a pound of my high school weight. It will take months of work to get back to my near high school shape. to me it is important as I feel my best that way. Maybe for you, it is some place in the middle I don't know. I fit into my 125 jeans, but I have some more fat to lose before I fit into my high school size clothes. Not weight, it is all about removing the excess fat and building back the lean muscle

At 26 you can achieve your goal. At 40, I was able to get to a fabulous weight and looked great! At 63, my goal has changed. It's all about health and looking good in age appropriate clothing!

yes, it's possible, I did it, my weight was 105 before, now I look even better at that weight because I am lifting weights

Ha! I like age inappropriate clothing! Each to their own goal which is what is great, each one of us have our own ideal.

SO many variables - time and mindset... genetics plays a part, too. Opinion? It's possible.

Do what is good for you. If you really want to get to that lower weight, you can. There are trade offs to getting their. Giving up great calorie laden food and going for healthier choices and amping up exercise are two that come to mind. Of course, I wear clothing that I like. To hockey sticks with "age appropriate"!!! If you feel good, the big freckles aren't showing, and the cheeks aren't hanging out.....go for it! I don't want to wear a bikini, but if I could rock it I would :) I refuse to bow to ageism.

Why would you go back to “who you were”? Aren’t you happy with your new life? I’d say new goals that fits your current lifestyle. It’s not about a pant size or some old pants in the closet. Maybe for me this is more than “jeans” in the closet, I don’t want to wear my old jeans lol. I like new jeans. Sexy, confident, comfortable that suit my new life and attitude. 😁😉👊🏻💪🏻

just be you, find a place where you are happy and stay there. doesn't have to be like it was before. you will always fight aging, good food, exercise. just be a happier you.

WOW, kattay, who knew age appropriate meant old lady clothes??? I'm just talking about me. At 26, she can take off the weight and wear whatever she wants as can anyone! No fashion police here. If you've got it, ROCK it!!!

I have heard a lot of people get criticized for keeping clothes that are size or two too small, but I like knowing that when I reach my goal I have something really pretty waiting for me. If you love those jeans, I say keep them in your closet and try them on every now and then. Feeling how they fit a little bit better every few months is a great way of encouraging yourself to keep going. Personally, I have a "future fit" section in my closet. Everytime I fit into something that was too small, I renew my determination to keep going.

I got back to my wedding-day weight after 4 kids, but I was not the same shape!! You know, the girls and the butt go south. However, I felt better, was able to fit into a size 7/8. Now, I'm 65 and need to lose another 33 lbs. You can do it, and you will feel better about yourself. Don't worry about being the same shape as before, get back to your normal weight. P.S.: I have two pairs of jeans that I know I can fit if I lose the rest of the weight!

Rock those jeans! Sorry Erquiaga. I hear "age appropriate" too much :) Nothing at all against anyone. My point was really was that a person at any age can enjoy and wear all types of clothes.
