I did it before. Went from 106 kg. Grrr - I sweared to never again get there but I was coming out from a rare disease fight - Myasthenia Gravis that included taking Prednisone which really put pounds on me like no tomorrow. Anyway, in 8 months using Keto diet I went from 106 kg to around 72 kg (+/-). Was a lifestyle change didn't try to diet per say - not good at dieting at all. I have a heavy bone structure so 72 kg at 168 cm is ideal weight for me, if I go lower I look like a zombie. I kept that for about 5 years with no problem. But 2 years ago got hit again by something that doctors couldn't figure out. Were so many symptoms that looked non related that I even got the usual bad doctors comment: 'it's in your head'. After 2 years of misdiagnostics and very nasty words from some doctors that totally forgot their oath I finally got the right diagnostic - and it tied all symptoms together. It is Pernicious Anemia which the only thing I need are B12 shots. I start them in January but took until now to feel almost myself again. Was always in the doctor face as my mom was diagnosed with it in 1977. But not even 1 doctor thought about it despite all of them having it in my family history. Took me doing my own research and having a good family doctor that listen to me. Why I write this? Because I hope other will not go through my nightmare. If you feel fatigue, if you get weird pains all over your body - moving from one site to another randomly, if you start feeling pins and needles in your arms and legs - then ask your doctor to investigate B12 deficiency. But be careful because the 2 test they will give you initially are garbage. B12 testing will come good if you have intestinal issues. There are some intestinal bacteria that produces B12 that gets in your blood stream but your body can't use it. So, you can be super anemic and still have great B12 numbers by this test. The second one your doctor will choose is a CBC differential (CBC - complete blood count) when they will look for enlarged and diform red blood cells. But having even a small quatity of folic acid in your blood will keep your cells looking good while you may be even close to death (yep death from neurological damage). And how you get folic acid without you knowing? Did you read the labels when you went shopping? Every food (bread is the worst) that is enriched or fortified has folic acid add to it. So, this test is absolitely useless if you eat even a slice of bread. So, if you don't feel good and doctors treat you badly don't give up, keep changing them until one listens to you and is willing to help. Is your life in danger. Now I started my keto diet again - the disease got me to 91 kg. It goes even easier that last time as I know what to do. Plus getting the anemia taken care even speed my metabolism and reduced hunger. So, even if sometimes things look grey and you seem to have no place to turn for help - don't give up. Do also your research (but follow medical ones not the snake oil ones) as doctors have so many patients and may miss things. And find a doctor that listens. And good luck with your life and your weight loss.
