Have a sugar problem here as well. So hard to leave it alone. I'll take any advice you have that helps. I am just getting started and have 100+ pounds to lose.

When I first started, I cut out all sugar. The only fruit I allowed was berries. I lost 50 lbs( was on another site b4 I joined this one)
I am in maintenance now and I fall off occasionally but am able to rebound pretty quickly. One dessert I make in summer alot is strawberries drizzled with sugar free Hershey's chocolate syrup and a dollop of sugar free rediwhip.

Sugar is one of my issues as well. Got some serious weight to lose, but I will get it done! Can use some sugar ideas as well!

Snow, I'm right there with ya!!! I am not able to eat sugar either...I cannot moderate so I had to swear off the stuff too. Hard to do but I have been winning the battle. great luck to you!!!!

watch "That Sugar Film" it's free on YouTube. it's what finally got my husband to swap some of his treats and give up some more sugar. It delves into the unhealthy side effects of excess sugar consumption. It's terrible for you even if you're not overweight. Good luck with cutting things out! You have the willpower.

Sugar is a white substance extracted from plants just like cocaine and heroin are white substances extracted from plants. For some people sugar can be very "addicting". Look at those high sugar foods and tell yourself they are really just cocaine or heroin in a different form and that may help you recognize that you really should not eat them. There is a two week protocol on breaking the sugar cravings in a book called Always Hungry (which I was) by Dr. David Ludwig that I followed to get me through initially. To keep my intense sweet cravings under control I cannot eat foods added sugar or white flour products including bread and pasta. I do eat two servings of whole, natural fruit and 1 small piece of dark chocolate each day and those do not trigger any insatiable cravings. I also eat limited portions of intact grains and potatoes. Cutting out sugar and white flour has made a world of difference in my ability to transition to a more healthful diet and lose weight without the intense struggle with hunger so characteristic of my past attempts.

I do exactly the same thing when I sabotage myself.! I no longer have anything but fruit in the house and crackers in the pantry and I plan every meal. I get so much good healthy food to eat, but it is that sugar that gets me in trouble EVERY time!
