Saturday, I had some time to kill while waiting for my wedding ring to be re-sized (Down! *grin*), so I went to a store and tried on some clothes, something I've avoided more often than not over the past decade. Was I ever in for a shock! I found this simple sleeveless red dress on the clearance rack, so I took it to the fitting room and only dared to try it on last after I'd tried on everything else I'd brought with me into the room.
It fit! And it's a size 10!!! I haven't fit into a size 10 in 10 to 15 years! Yes, I bought that dress. LOL
When I started Atkins, I wore size 16 clothes & men's football jerseys (size Large). But I have a black pleated skirt, size 18, hanging in my closet. I'd willingly bought the next size up, a fact that stuns me now. While I plan to sell or donate all of my "big clothes" when my weightloss journey ends, I think I'm going to keep that skirt to remind me of just how far I let myself go. It still has the price tag on it, and I've never worn it. (Can't now! *grin*) But I've had it a while. The only reason I hadn't worn it was because I spent more time "dressing down" while at 200 lbs. I convinced myself that I felt more comfortable in flats, sweats, and ballcaps. I didn't realize I'd actually "given up on dressing up"...on taking pride in my appearance and trying to take care of myself. That is...until I saw my husband's reaction to me in that little red dress. (I love you, honey, for that.)
Never again. I won't give up on myself ever again.
