Hello everyone. Does anyone have a smart scale? Is it useful? I'd like to be able to track body fat & muscle mass but I've read these scales are horribly inaccurate.

Hello, I own one and don't use the "smart" option. Its totally inaccurate and a waste of over R800

I am probably very ignorant… but i can never understand the whole concept of a scale measuring body fat 🤔 how does it know what is fat what is muscle what is water just by me hoping on top of it? That has always made me a bit skeptical about buying this thing. Hoping someone will shed some light

I think it is better to see a professional nutritionists that can do it professional.

I have one but I don't really use it that much. Scales are useful but I feel like they make me become obsessed with numbers and that is not healthy for me 😊 so I use it from time to time but don't let it influence my head space.

I use the "Xiaomi Body Composition Scale 2" from Incredible Connection (R499). I've tested accuracy and consistency using the same scale of a friend. I'm happy with the level of accuracy. Once you have a starting baseline, all stats do change relative to your weight loss and diet. 8 months and loving the app. Get it, and I'll share my stats online with your app. Visceral fat, muscle mass, water, bone mass, protein, basal metabolism, body age & bmi.

I thought it was accurate but wow, a huge difference between what my smart scale says and what the body composition scale at the gym says. I choose to trust the one at the gym despite it being much worse than what my scale says lol

I’ve got a Huawei smart scale with the app on my phone. I’m very happy with it and the information seems consistent and accurate. I particularly track body fat % and muscle mass because I do strength training at gym. I am not so much trying to lose weight as reduce body fat and put on lean muscle mass, so tracking only my weight is not a very useful metric. Like the one @BurnItBeaminc uses, it also includes visceral fat, water, bone mass and mineral content, protein, basal metabolism etc.

The only way to accurately get those stats is to have them calculated at a dr or clinic with the appropriate machine.

They only real way bodyfat can be accurately measured is by a professional using calipers measuring you physically.
