Finally back home after an extended stay at my parents' home, surrounded by family. I overate in a big way, but frankly, I'm so relieved and so happy that I don't much care. My stepdad, who had a stroke late last year, continues to improve, and can even walk a bit now. Mom is thrilled and relieved, I'm thrilled and relieved, my siblings are thrilled and relieved, and we're all so content. We had a big Mexican Christmas with the works: a tamalada with extended family, champurrado, pan dulce, and all the stuff I'm not supposed to eat (ask me if I care). My siblings and I have pooled our cash and paid up front for three months of a home health care aide, to begin in late January as one of my younger sisters is going to stay with our parents for a while longer. The aide took care of another family in the neighborhood and is known to us all, and comes highly recommended, so we've few worries on that end. Christmas was a GOOD one. I hope everyone on FS had as good a season!
I've gained weight, I'm sure, but have no idea how much. When I got home this morning (long overnight flight, whew), I tried weighing myself, only to find that the battery in my bathroom scale is dead. I'm not much in the mood to run out and find a 24-hour convenience store just for a battery, and my work week is going to be packed, so I probably won't be able to weigh myself until this Saturday. Not that I'm looking forward to it in any case. Oh, well ... I really don't care. My family is happy, so I'm happy. I hope you all are, too. Tomorrow, the battle recommences.
