Saint Valentine lived during the 200's AD, and was a priest or bishop in Italy who was under Claudius II, who was in power only about a year and a half. At that time, Italy had a law that if you were married, you didn't have to go off to war. Society was very immoral at that time and the leadership did not want young men to get married, because they wanted to put them into the military. Saint Valentine would secretly marry some of them. There is a legend that when he was brought in front of an official to answer for what he was doing, he asked Saint Valentine to heal his daughter's blindness, which in the legend, he did. Valentine was beheaded on Feb. 14th, 269 AD. Evidently he sent a note to the daughter who had been blind, and signed it: “Your Valentine”.
Happy Valentines Day, God loves you and me more than we can know. I did not get my decorations out of the attic because of my painful hip and leg. Oh well... It just occurs to me maybe I could call my sister and wish her a Happy Valentines Day, and not mention anything about our "problem" last week. How could she not accept that? I would just chat about our daughter coming in town Saturday from Arizona for Oncologist and dentist appointments. She and her husband will be staying with us about a week. She and I had a long talk a couple of days ago: maybe a highlight of our relationship. I'll wait till after 10:00am to call my sister.
