Found out yesterday I am prediabetic. Found out I have to count carbs as well as calories.

I'm so depressed because I don't understand it :(
114,3 kg Indtil videre tabt: 8,2 kg.    Stadig tilbage: 30,4 kg.    Kost fulgt: Rimeligt godt.

If you download the calorie counter app to your phone it will do all the calculations for you and you can pre plan your meals so that you don't go over your daily amounts of calories and carbs.

Some people do better on a low carb diet. Atkins diet is low carb, but I find it a little too extreme. I find I do best on a diet with between 60-100g carbs and 100+g of protein. I follow a variation of the paleolithic diet. It's not low carb, just low-ish. The carbs I eat are from vegetable, fruit and dairy sources. Also, I cut out all grains, beans/peas, and white potatoes. This diet puts a lot less stress on the pancreas.

Usually the Dr. will send you to a series of classes to help you understand. I find though, that I can eat plenty of carbs, just NOT processed carbs. If you are going to eat carbs, eat 100% whole grain breads and pastas, brown rice, whole fruit and veggies, etc. The complex carbs break down differently in your system and don't cause wild glucose shifts.
